LAKESHORE, Fla. (WCJB) – Over the objections of public speakers, the Lakeshore Hospital Authority voted to approve a final contract with Meridian Healthcare to take over the main hospital building.
Increased funding approved
As part of the agreement, the authority increased its financial offer to Meridian from $2.3 million to $4 million to assist with renovations.
Residents raise concerns
Many residents argued against placing a mental health facility in the center of town. Board members had previously supported the move before casting their final votes.
