The Holmes County Education & Community Foundation announced their newest agency fund, the Viola Startzman Holmes County Fund
for Primary and Mental Healthcare. This fund provides lasting support for the
Viola Startzman Clinic in Holmes County, making primary and mental health care
accessible and affordable.

“Many people in the community associate Viola Startzman Clinic primarily
with Wooster, but a significant number of the patients we serve come from
Holmes County,” said Dr. Mark Yoder, DNP, FNP-C, PMHNP-C, executive director of
Viola Startzman Clinic. “In 2025 we provided a record-breaking $2.1 million in
charitable care including more than $100,000 in services to Holmes County
residents alone. We currently serve nearly 1,000 unique patients from Holmes
County, and that number continues to grow, especially as we expand services in
partnership with Anazao Community Partners at our Millersburg location at 7368
County Highway 623, Millersburg, Ohio.

“We are currently piloting services at
this site on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering both primary care and
mental health services, with the goal of expanding based on the needs of the
community. Patients without insurance are seen free of charge. By establishing
a fund with the Holmes County Community Foundation, we are creating an
opportunity for residents and businesses in Holmes County to directly support
health care access for their neighbors. Every dollar donated to this fund will
help ensure that individuals and families in Holmes County can continue to
receive high-quality care close to home.”

Holley Johnson, executive director of the Holmes County Education &
Community Foundation, feels honored to have a fund at the foundation that
supports such an important cause in the community.

“One of
the things that makes our community so special is how people take care of each
other,” Johnson said. “I love the idea of having a fund where people can donate to help
take care of their neighbors who are struggling to afford the health care that
they need. By growing this fund, donors are also creating a lasting source of
support that will help sustain the clinic’s mission for years to come.”
