A 44-year-old Jessup man led law-enforcement officers on a high-speed chase last week, police charge.

Jason Fuhr, wanted for violating bail conditions, faces two felony charges related to fleeing and eluding law enforcement.

According to the criminal complaint, on March 9, Lackawanna County sheriff’s deputies established surveillance at 501 Clarkson Ave., Jessup. At about 10 a.m., they spotted Fuhr leaving the residence in his vehicle and activated their lights and sirens in an attempt to stop him. Instead, Fuhr sped up and fled.

Officers followed Fuhr onto the Casey Highway, traveling west, sometimes over 90 mph. He exited the Casey onto East Lackawanna Avenue, then drove into a heavily wooded area, where officers lost sight of him. Officers set up a perimeter but were unable to immediately locate Fuhr.

Fuhr was eventually apprehended and arraigned on March 11 before District Judge Christopher J. Szewczyk. He remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $40,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on March 25.
