LANCASTER — Community members are invited to take a closer look at anxiety — and how to manage it — during an upcoming program at Thayer Memorial Library.
Author and licensed mental health counselor Wendy Leeds will present “Solving the Anxiety Equation” from 7 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 30, at the library, at 717 Main St.
The program is based on Leeds’ book, “Solving the Anxiety Equation,” which offers a practical, step-by-step approach to understanding and managing anxiety.
“Anxiety is the most common mental health disorder in the United States, and when left untreated, it can affect sleep, relationships and overall physical health,” Leeds explained. “Persistent stigma can also make it difficult for people to seek help, leaving many to struggle in silence.”
Leeds’ approach is designed to simplify what can often feel overwhelming.
“Rather than focusing on complex theories, I break anxiety down into clear, manageable components and offer tools to address anxious thoughts, negative beliefs and physical symptoms,” Leeds explains.
A therapist, speaker and three-time cancer survivor, Leeds draws on both professional experience and personal insight in her work.
“I am passionate about helping individuals create a greater sense of calm and control in their lives,” she added.
The program is open to teens and adults and will include strategies attendees can begin using right away. Leeds’ book is also available to borrow through the library.
