LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Activate Allen County is calling on the community to help address growing concerns surrounding mental and behavioral wellness across the region.

For the third year, the group is partnering with the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Allen, Auglaize, and Hardin Counties to host its “Chili for Charity” event. The fundraiser supports organizations that provide critical services to individuals dealing with mental health and behavioral challenges.

Attendees can participate by purchasing a $10 chili dinner, with proceeds going toward one of several organizations presenting their programs at the event.

“With your ticket, you get to vote on one of the proposals, and ultimately, you get your voice heard as to what you want to see in your community,” said Chad Welker of Activate Allen County. “As part of our grant this year, we are partnered with the city of Lima and the Allen County commissioners’ office with the OneOhio grant, which is specifically for opioid abatement and addiction resources in our community.”

The event is scheduled for Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the Mercy Health Graduate Medical Education Building on Market Street.

Those interested in attending must register in advance through the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce website by selecting the Chili for Charity event page.
