SMITHFIELD — Johnston County Department of Social Services will host the Mind Matters: Navigating the Path to Wellness symposium from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at Johnston Community College’s TART Building/Paul A. Johnston Auditorium, 245 College Rd.
The symposium is designed to provide professionals and community members with tools and insights to navigate the evolving landscape of mental wellness. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in expert-led workshops covering critical topics, including:
• Youth suicide prevention: Strategies to move from awareness to life-saving action.
• Substance use trends: Understanding the risks of fentanyl, vaping and synthetic drugs.
• Autism and mental health: Building communities that are “regulation-ready” for autistic children.
• Burnout prevention: Practical tools for professionals to reignite their passion and maintain personal well-being.
