While on Easter break from Washington D.C., a congressman delivered an oversized check to a Princeton non-profit.

Republican lawmaker Darin LaHood dropped by Arukah Institute of Healing in Princeton Tuesday to reveal additional plans and take some photos in regards to a planned behavioral health services and workforce training center. 103.9 WLPO first reported last month that LaHood had secured $2 million for the Arukah expansion project.

Arukah is looking to construct a 32,000 square foot training center in Princeton to serve patients struggling with substance use or mental illness. Last year, Arukah was also selected by the state to receive $3.6 million to go towards this same project.

Folks with Arukah say the funds will transform their Princeton facility into a regional hub for mental and behavioral health care, serving multiple counties. Specifically, Arukah is looking to expand therapy, psychiatry, and group spaces, improve accessibility, and offer a therapeutic outdoor green space.
