GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Governor Josh Stein will be in the East today, touring a new hospital offering behavioral health services.
Gov. Stein and Human Services Secretary Dev Sangvai will tour ECU Health’s new behavioral health hospital in Greenville this afternoon.
The hospital on MacGregor Downs Road houses more than 140 beds and provides treatment for adults suffering from severe mental illness, with plans to expand to children and adolescents.
This comes after Gov. Stein proposed a $1.4 billion Critical Needs Budget this month, which includes $319 million to fund Medicaid fully.
Medicaid is a primary source for funding of behavioral health services. Stein’s budget proposal also asks for a 10% raise for nurses and behavioral health technicians at state hospitals.
