Governor Josh Stein toured ECU Health’s new Behavioral Health Hospital in Greenville today.

Built back in December, this new state-of-the-art facility houses nearly 150 patients, and Governor Stein was here to check it out and speak on access to healthcare.

We need more facilities like this one.

Checking out rooms, meeting staff, and going over plans for the future.

This was the goal for Governor Josh Stein on his visit to ECU Health’s Behavioral Health Hospital.

In February, I signed an executive order to strengthen and better our behavioral health and criminal justice systems to better protect North Carolinians.

Governor Stein says there won’t be facilities like this if no one is willing to work at them.

To help bring in more healthcare workers, Stein says that is the goal for his 1.4-billion-dollar Critical Needs Budget he proposed in March.

Several of those needs are being felt right here at ECU Healthmy Critical Needs Budget pays our state nurses and behavioral healthcare technicians better. I’m calling for a 10 percent raise for state nurses and healthcare workers, some of whom treat people with severe mental illnesses in our state hospitals.

Included in the proposal is $319 million to fully fund Medicaid.

Republicans call Stein’s request reckless and say it could lead to tax increases.

But with additional funding and better pay, Behavioral Health Hospital CEO Tyler Davis says facilities like this one can help and treat even more people.

We have more than 100 clinicians and staff already providing care to those 150 patients we serve so far, and we have plans to expand north of 300 by the time we’re fully up and operational.Comment with Bubbles
