State police have obtained an arrest warrant for a 40-year-old Norwegian Twp. man accused of holding a gun to a woman’s head and threatening to shoot her.

Thomas M. Kelly faces a felony charge of aggravated assault, along with various misdemeanors, in connection with an April 1 incident inside a home in the township.

Schuylkill Haven PSP gave the following account in court documents:

Police were dispatched to a residence on New Street around 7:30 p.m. April 1. The woman who reported the incident told police that she had returned to the home earlier that day to retrieve some of her belongings, at which point the defendant yelled at her and said she was not welcome.

Kelly retrieved a 9mm handgun from the top of a refrigerator, then put the gun to the top of the woman’s forehead. He then slid the gun down her face and told her, “I’ll shoot you in the — face right now,” according to police.

The woman fled the residence, waved down a passing motorist and used their cellphone to call 911. She believed the defendant — who reportedly drives a black Chevrolet pickup — was still inside the residence at the time.

When police arrived on scene, they were unable to make contact with the defendant, and his vehicle was not parked there.

The victim — who had lived at the home for about two years —  said that she was in fear for her life during the incident and noted the defendant had used drugs earlier in the day.

Police subsequently executed a search warrant at the residence and found a loaded Polymero 9mm semi-automatic pistol. They also found a small plastic baggie containing suspected methamphetamine, a smoking pipe with drug residue and another bag with an “unknown white powder.”

Police also found 21 fraudulent inspection stickers, along with 46 number stickers.

In addition to the aggravated assault charge, Kelly faces misdemeanors of terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, simple assault, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He also faces 21 misdemeanor counts of altered, forged or counterfeit documents and summary offenses of violating certificates of inspection and harassment.

Police filed charges through Magisterial District Judge Edward J. Lewis in Port Carbon.
