Kennewick, Wash.

The owner of the Kennewick and Pasco hospitals has announced plans to add to its Northwest hospitals and other care centers.

Lifepoint Health has signed an agreement with ScionHealth to acquire eight of its acute care hospitals. They include St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Idaho, plus hospitals in Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Regulatory and legal steps to complete the transaction could be wrapped up in one to two months.

“Lifepoint knows these hospitals and their communities well and looks forward to helping them continue to serve their patients, create new opportunities for their teams, and partner with others to improve the health and wellbeing of those who live across their regions,” said David Dill, chairman and chief executive officer of Lifepoint Health.

Lifepoint owns Trios Health in Kennewick and Lourdes Health in Pasco, plus Lourdes Behavioral Health in Richland.

It also owns Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville, Ore.; Providence Swedish Rehabilitation Hospital in Lynwood, Wash.; Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Tacoma, Wash., and Rainier Springs in Vancouver, Wash., specializing in outpatient mental health and addiction services.

According to the Lifepoint website, the company has 62 acute care hospitals, 49 rehabilitation facilities and 26 behavioral health facilities. It employs about 55,000 people.
