The Mary J. Sherlach Counseling Center and Students Leaving a Mark (SLAM) Hosts Mental Health Awareness Month Event to Strengthen Families and Communities Through Play
In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Mary J. Sherlach Center and the SLAM (Students Leaving a Mark) group is proud to announce an exciting and uplifting community event aimed at promoting mental well-being and building stronger family connections. The event will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at Old Mine Park, 121 Old Mine Road. This event is free and open to Trumbull residents.
The event is designed to highlight the importance of mental health while offering a fun and engaging environment for families and individuals of all ages. By emphasizing the power of play and community engagement, the Counseling Center and SLAM group hopes to provide a space where people can connect, de-stress, and celebrate mental wellness together.
Attendees will be treated to a variety of free activities, including Free Ice Cream, Popcorn, and Cotton Candy – Sweet treats for everyone to enjoy. Live DJ – Fun tunes to get everyone moving and grooving, and Games and Prizes – Interactive activities for the whole family, with exciting prizes to be won!
The SLAM group believes that strengthening connections within families and communities is key to improving mental health and this event is all about having fun together and supporting one another while also bringing awareness to the importance of mental well-being.
