CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month this May, the City of Cedar Falls is partnering with local organizations and advocates to connect residents with mental health resources.

City Communications Specialist Amanda Huisman and Public Safety Officer Zachary Andersen joined a panel with Thomas Eachus of UnityPoint Health Black Hawk-Grundy Mental Health Center, Chris Latta of MercyOne Waterloo, and Ryan Nesbit, co-founder of Alive & Running Iowa.

The discussion is available HERE.

The roughly 30-minute conversation focuses on how organizations across the Cedar Valley work together to support people experiencing mental health challenges and their families.

Panelists also addressed common questions and shared available resources.

“The Cedar Valley has seen a significant increase in calls for service related to mental health, and we wanted to cut through the noise and try to candidly connect with those in need,” said City Communications Specialist Amanda Huisman.

City leaders say they hope the effort will connect people with resources and make a difference for those in need.
