Scranton police are searching for a suspect who entered the city at about 1 p.m. during a high-speed chase from Carbondale and then fled.

Scranton Police Chief Thomas Carroll said his department was looking for the suspect, but deferred to the Carbondale Police Department for further information about the incident.

The suspect struck a parked car at the intersection of Linden and Taylor streets, before fleeing, Carroll said.

Carbondale Police Department would be filing any charges in the case.

Prescott Elementary School and Northeast Intermediate School, delayed their dismissals because of a heavy police presence, announcing at 2:30 p.m. they would then move ahead with dismissal.
