BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Brazos Valley is holding its first-ever fundraiser gala—Faces of Hope: Unmasking the Stigma—on April 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Aston Mansion in Bryan.

The event is designed to reduce the stigma around mental health and connect residents with free local support resources.

About NAMI Brazos Valley

NAMI Brazos Valley is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving seven counties, including Brazos County. The chapter offers free peer-to-peer support groups on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the HealthPoint Clinic on Texas Avenue in Bryan—open to anyone living with mental illness or supporting a loved one who does.

“You get a place where someone understands what’s going on with you, a place to listen,” said board president Lakshmi Mahadevan. “It’s not therapy, it’s not treatment — it’s just a free support group.”

The organization is funded through donations, volunteers and community support from Brazos County and the city.
