MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ohio (WKEF) — The Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board was recognized nationally for its work in the mental health first aid industry.
The Ohio Board was one of only three organizations nationwide to receive an Excellence Award from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.
The award recognizes great efforts in training delivery, including planning, outreach, and ultimately execution.
Mental Health First Aid Vice President, Tramaine EL-Amin, said, “We are proud to recognize the 2026 Impact Award recipients for the important work they do to make MHFA more available in their communities.”
According to the Montgomery County ADAMHS Board, Mental Health First Aid is a training program based on evidence that teaches people how to identify and respond to mental health and substance use challenges.
The Board says that nearly four and a half million people in the United States have been trained through this program.
In the Montgomery County program, Adult Mental Health First Aid and Youth Mental Health First Aid trainings are offered at their training facility and last year they say they trained nearly 615 people.
Becky Ketron, ADAMHS Senior Program Coordinator, said, “It reduces stigma by offering suggested language, provides local resources and tangible next steps, and empowers our participants to feel confident managing any situation they may encounter.”
