ATHENS, Ala. (WAFF) – Students are taking time to learn more about their mental health.

Athens High School held its annual Mental Health Fair on Wednesday, where students can learn about local mental health resources and wellness strategies.

It’s part of a week-long event highlighting the importance of mental health, something leaders said is crucial for students to understand.

“Students today have more stress on them than ever before,” Athens High School Teacher Paige Hicks said. “Just to focus a day on taking care of yourself, taking care of your mental health, I think is essential for our kids.”

As part of the week’s event, the school held dress-up days, like Stomp Out the Stigma and Build a Better Mind, to bring a positive tone to mental health awareness.
