TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Tallahassee woman is turning personal loss into a mission to help others facing mental health and addiction struggles.

Trish Allmon, owner of Serene Restoration, said growing up alongside her brother Andrew as he battled substance abuse shaped her passion for helping families facing similar challenges.

“It’s the behavior that they do, just being so reckless, and you’re just waiting on that phone call and it’s terrifying,” Allmon said.

She said Andrew died in a motorcycle incident in 2020, but Allmon said his memory continues to inspire her work as a psychiatric nurse practitioner.

“This is kind of a tribute to him, what I do every day,” she said. “Just to be able to be there for my clients and be on that journey with them and their families is very rewarding.”

Allmon always had a goal of launching her own practice. She launched Serene Restoration after realizing many people needed more personalized and consistent mental health support.

“I believe people with mental illness need more than 15 minutes in and out,” she said.

She now offers services including psychiatric care, family consultations and support for military members.

“We are not always happy every day; we have ups and downs, emotions are normal, but when you can’t get out of bed and can’t function, there is help,” Allmon said.

Allmon said the work she does each day is with her brother in mind.
