Solvista Health announced that Colorado has officially been selected by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as one of 10 new states added to the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) Demonstration Program, and Solvista is one of only three community mental health centers in Colorado chosen to serve as a CCBHC demonstration site.
CCBHCs are required to meet high national standards for care, crisis response, coordination with medical providers and timely access to services regardless of a person’s ability to pay, where they live or the severity of their condition, a press release stated.
Solvista, which serves Fremont, Custer, Chaffee and Lake counties, will receive enhanced federal funding through a special payment system created for CCBHCs. Under the program, clinics receive Medicaid reimbursement based on the actual cost of providing comprehensive behavioral health services instead of being paid only for individual appointments or limited services. This payment model stabilizes funding and allows Solvista to expand services to better meet the growing behavioral health needs of local communities, the release stated.
“The most important and unique aspect of this model is that we get to decide what services to prioritize based on the input of our community members,” Solvista Health CEO Mandy Kaisner said in the release. “In rural and frontier areas like ours, the needs are usually very different than urban areas. This model doesn’t dictate a cookie cutter approach but instead gives the local community a voice in what services are needed the most.”
Services offered by Solvista Health include crisis care and mobile crisis response; services for children, families and veterans; mental health counseling and therapy; substance use treatment and recovery support; care coordination with primary care and hospitals; and support for individuals with serious mental illness.
