Ariana Grande has launched a new charitable endeavour. The Brighter Days Ahead Foundation will include four separate funds focused on organisations “that provide the safe space and care that is desperately needed by so many right now”.
The emphasis is on trans and LGBTQ+ rights as well as mental-health care and crisis support.
The new foundation’s ‘Protect & Defend Fund’ will focus on grassroots groups advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, civil rights and reproductive justice, while its ‘Heal & Dream Fund’ is about expanding access to mental-health care and community support.
There is also a ‘Seen & Celebrated Fund’ that will “ensure LGBTQ+ voices and stories are heard and shared” and an “Emergency Support Fund’ providing response to “urgent moments with aid”.
A full list of the initial grantees for each fund can be found on the foundation’s website – alongside a hoodie being sold to raise money for them – as well as in Grande’s post announcing it.
This is part of a wider trend among socially-conscious pop stars who want to channel some of their earnings – and donations from fans – to causes they support. Witness Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Fund 4 Good’, Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Sabrina Carpenter Fund’ and Chappell Roan’s ‘The Midwest Princess Project’ for example.
