GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Meridian Behavioral Healthcare officials are expanding their crisis stabilization unit to include a central receiving facility.
The extension is located at Meridian’s main campus on the southwest corner of SW 13th Street and Williston Road.
The expansion includes hiring additional nurses, emergency screeners, mental health technicians, a director of central receiving, and more.
The centralized patient processing makes the admissions process faster.
“We anticipate serving about 4,500 individuals a year through the central receiving facility for decades to come,” said Meridian CEO, Donald Savoie. “Healthcare needs don’t happen 8 to 5 Monday – Friday. They happen 24/7 365, so having a facility that is available to the community on that time frame is super super important.”
The project costs $2.5 million.
Meridian officials hope to finish construction by September.
