A specialized residential program in Bartlesville is helping families address crises and avoid child welfare intervention. GRAND Mental Health operates a Brief Stay Therapeutic Home (BSTH), a short-term treatment program designed for parents and children to live together while receiving intensive therapy.
Appearing on COMMUNITY CONNECTION, Dr. Larry Cowan, therapist for the Brief Stay program, said, “The home provides a family-focused environment where participants work through generational trauma, improve communication, and stabilize household relationships. The fully furnished home includes four bedrooms and two bathrooms, allowing families to reside together during treatment.”
The program emphasizes real-life interactions, intensive family therapy, and crisis stabilization.
Positive outcomes of The Brief Stay by the numbers include 100% of parents report improved hope30 days past the stay; 0% of kids have been removed from their home post-care; 0% of families required higher level of care post-stay; 71% of families engaged in continuum of care post-stay; and 100% of families received iPads for access to additional services.
Admissions are referral-based through GRAND Mental Health, the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, the Office of Juvenile Affairs, or other child-serving agencies.
