A new golf tournament coming to Clark County this summer will raise money for men’s mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

The inaugural Playmakers Putts Fore Purpose Golf Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 8, at Club Green Meadows. NAMI Southwest Washington will serve as the beneficiary of the event, with proceeds helping support the development of men’s support groups throughout Clark and Cowlitz counties.

The event will follow a scramble format, with check-in beginning at 11:30 a.m. and a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Teams of four can register for $600.

Organizers said the tournament is intended to create more awareness around the barriers many men face when seeking help for mental health concerns.

“Men often face unique barriers to seeking help,” NAMI Southwest Washington stated. “Through events like Putts Fore Purpose, we can create opportunities for connection, support, and hope.”

The flyer for the event states that 100% of net proceeds will go toward NAMI Southwest Washington “to make a real impact locally and nationally.”

In addition to golf, the tournament will include mulligans, a 50/50 raffle and a pink ball contest available for purchase at check-in.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available, including hole sponsorships and other options.

NAMI Southwest Washington is part of the National Alliance on Mental Illness and provides education, advocacy and support for people affected by mental illness, along with their families and communities.
