The 6 things YOU should NOT expect from therapy… #therapy #shorts #mentalhealth

Let’s talk about therapy and what to and what not to expect. Many people are new to therapy or it may be their first time seeing a therapist, and they’re like what should I expect? Is my entire life going to change right away? They want an introduction to therapy or a therapy 101 course that teaches them the DOs and DONTs of therapy. The problem is, therapy is not that black or white nor is it that simple – and it requires patience. So if you’re a therapy beginner, or if you’ve been going to therapy for a while and not sure what to expect out of therapy, I’ll try to answer some of those questions in this video, as well. This is a good therapy for beginners video, but also a good therapy for experienced clients video! If you find yourself asking what is therapy like or what should I expect out of counseling or is therapy effective or how to find a therapist or counselor – all of these questions likely make you a good candidate for this video. Let’s dive deep into the things not to expect out of therapy or counseling…

  1. "judgemental or critical of us," like telling us that we are lying and that our intentions were something else? Transference made it so that I handled it in the same way I handle my mom; if they want to believe lies about me, that is not my business. But with a therapist, that isn't really a great situation.

  2. i agree. they should be sensitive to what your gender is. if you are male but identify as something else, you are still male. if you are white but identify as black, you are still white. if you are Muslim and believe in Allah, you still need to know about Jesus. Amen.

  3. My therapist back home, helped me with my ssa case. But, she did a great job, as I left Christianity completely, and why I did, and where I went. She didn't criticize me. I knew she couldn't fix me, I'm a hemorrhagic stroke survivor, and I can't function like I used to. But, with her help, I'm ok with that. I no longer see her, but I moved very far away, actually to a different country.

  4. I had this one when I was like 12 I got mad and decided I was never going back cause we got into it over politics 🤣. And I'm not even into politics anymore I could care less about them. I have my opinions but I don't really care.

  5. With my first therapist she taught me never to rely on her. (She was piss poor) second one (a man) taught me the kind of man husband and father I didn’t want to be ( he was a jackass) third one showed me there was people who cared but that they have there own lives too (she got a better job offer that would make her own life easier) I miss her honesty. My last therapist taught me it is ok to voice my opinion, and that it is ok to say “I think I’m done with therapy, thank you so much for your help.” Hopefully the last two will be a great help to others.

  6. Wow, what woman is sleeping with her patients are going out with her patients that makes them so open and vulnerable to work for them. They can keep complete range for them. That’s fucked up. because they are vulnerable because they need help and if you’re dating them or whatever you could literally drain the bank accounts or anything and everything you wanted you could do this person but they’re so vulnerable that’s why I say whatever sexuality you are you should have the opposite that we hook up can’t happen🤦‍♂️🫠

  7. I am not a therapist i am just a 15 year old but i am not judgeful, i dont expect anything from anyone and i am not insensitive to people personal things so i know everyones different but its not that hard?

  8. Yes! I finally found a good therapist the analogy she uses is "You are in the driver seat, I'm the GPS and when you make a wrong turn I help you get back on track" And she's not afraid to laugh (while also being professional)

  9. An observation, therapists are financially secure, and come from well endowed family backgrounds,
Their education was paid for, therapists i knew one who wore a two hundred dollar change of clothes, mentioned by inquiry that his family had a swimming pool in their basement. Other therapists vacation on cruises and have an RV with satellite internet. Therapists will be in Shakespeare plays, or play la crosse.
These therapist believe theyre middle class. Maybe. I myself have been in therapy too long.
Their education when i attended university was watching scenerios videos, clinical experience and on the job training.
Upper class students from the wealthy backgrounds.
Therapy, its quality of care and mercy is improving, theyre not like us. Its getting better.
Therapist now have the internet, therapists can do background checks. No more cautious probability based misdiagnosis.

  10. My therapists often see me as ridiculous.
    Im too tall for automobiles.
Recently its been mentioned that my wardrobe is unorthodox.
    Simple
    I layer clothes in winter
Wear linen fabric and fishing clothes in summer.
My shoes are designed for hiking whilst being casual dress.
The rules you indentify are either not enforced or new.

  11. Number 3 is a big reason why I don't think I could be a therapist..if your religion/beliefs/etc are what's holding you back from being healthy but you don't want to hear that..sorry I can't help you

  12. I don't know. I may date you, what's the law, 6 months after you leave? I mean, I know you like the back of my hand. Just imagine that will you? Like the back of my hand.

  13. I'm no therapist, but if you pay me what you pay your therapist, I will listen to you, take notes, offer advice, answer your calls, and take you on dates. Satisfaction guaranteed!!!

  15. Awee i met the sweetest, kindest therapist who actually did atleast 1 of these and love her for that because I really needed that kind of help.. it's unfortunate for me she's moving on to another group.. she's been my therapist for 10 or 11 months.. I'm so sad. I don't think I'll do well with a different one, so we'll see

  16. Then what the fuck are they supposed to do? What have they studied for then? We have a problem and we need solutions from them that's it, if not, why would I spend a decent amount on them?
