  1. Sometimes these things happen within HR. If it is a hostile environment and you (as HR) take a stand against it, you too become a target. This experience may be more pervasive for women and people of color.

  2. You’re absolutely right. A hostile work environment undermines the ability to perform and can have long-term effects on mental health. The key is to prioritize dignity, professionalism, and clear boundaries in all interactions.

  3. I love this response. It is deliberately thoughtful and resets the dynamic of the conversation and interaction. Thank you. I love your channel and content.

  4. What happens when the person being hostile and in charge is also the ceo and they fired so many people so they are also hr, payroll and your interim director?

  5. I had brought this up in a meeting I was called in for and I told them it felt like a toxic and hostile environment to which to with they said it was said about me. Funny thing is the complaining person was fired from many sites and I asked for a different account ,manager and things got better. The other person no longer works for the company. It’s funny how they always wanna put it on you instead of listening to both sides, , mediate and look at a persons track record. Jealously and office politics are horrid.

  6. thank you for sharing your expertise. Unfortunately, even saying this in an even tone can be used the gaslight a person, especially if you are a black woman.

  7. I wish I had seen this video a couple of months ago when a co worker repeated herself even though i agreed with her and she repeated herself and I agreed with her.I was not patronizing, I actually did agree. Then she repeated herself again, and it was like a switch flipped, and I started yelling, she lied and said, I was cursing. 😊 i don't curse and I got in front of it by telling my manager and reporting. The issue to h r.

  8. I can see the response to a statement like this being "You are too sensitive. Surely you took that in the wrong way – why would you think that? That's not what I meant by what I said." How do you respond to gaslighting, that seems to have become the default management tactic and also evasion tactic of coworkers?
