Mental Health Coverage | Montana PBS Reports: Impact

Over 15 years ago, the federal government passed a law requiring many insurers to cover mental health care in the same way they cover medical and surgical care. It’s a concept known as parity. However, government investigators have repeatedly found insurance companies aren’t abiding by the law. We investigate what this means, specifically, for patients with eating disorders in Montana, a state that is in the top five in the nation for eating disorder insurance claims.
