Listen Doc, your short hand content have to be more professional. As someone who is struggling with bi polar, anxiety, depression, and ADHD. I’ve been in the mental health treatment since I was in middle school.
So here is how I see it:
Can you not pick clips in which you are yelling at us. Your tone is way too much sometimes. Your tone is important and you should work on it. It scares people away before they have time to listen. Deep questions like this have little impact on short hand. Are you a YouTuber or a doctor? And the real question can you be both? It only reinforces the negative behavior of shorts
easy to say, hard to do
Getting rid of the External motivation system is kinda hard with a nagging wife swing n a miss
But genuinely dont want to be a guy who applied to 4 places today. I do not want to work there and even getting a call back stresses me the hell out.
random shot of me eating while watching this on the phone 😂
The issue is that you do that. You do that again, and again, and again, but you keep doing that, and you realize it's a lot harder and more depressing than how you invisioned that life you wanted to live.
You realize it makes you happy, but that you're giving up a lot of comforts and habits that you used to passively live with and take for granted.
Sure, you wanna have a lifestyle where you get up on time, go for a walk, and start your day with a healthy breakfast.
Unfortunately, waking up early requires ripping yourself from a comfort zone when thats the absolute last thing you want to do. Going for a walk requires you to leave the comfort of your home to do something do basically nothing interesting for a bit. Eating a healty breakfast requires pre prepping/cooking a meal that probably isnt gonna satisfy your food cravings as much as just eating whatever you're currently hungry for.
You realize that you dont do those things naturally for a reason. it's not appealing in the short term, and you are only sacrificing an amount of time in the future you cant really quantify in any meaningful way.
I dont really wanna smoke weed and play videogames all day, yet not doing those things feels worse than the stuff I would idealy like to be doing.
With all due respect Doc…I’m living proof that this is kinda bs, and doesn’t work. It is a lot like saying to a depressed person to just cheer up.
What if you are lost and have no dreams/goals??
i kind of learned this with League of Legends funny enough. When you give up trying to win, which is an outcome, and one that is LARGELY out of your own control, and instead focus on doing the correct things minute to minute, or in this case day to day, then your preferable outcome will happen more often
If I did that, I'd be unemployed and homeless
This works if what you want to do is appriciated in society I guess. This works if there are no people around that give pressure that you should do otherwise. Not sure how realistic that is.
But I have no dreams or directions. I am also not attracted to people or things. I want nothing so having noting means I got what I wanted, huh?
“Why do so many people need help?! Life is not that complicated. You get up, you go to work, eat three meals, you take one good shit and you go back to bed. What’s the fucking mystery?!”
― George Carlin
Love this
No, I don't want to be someone who applies for four jobs today, I want wealth redistribution and fair compensation. 😂
NAH WE JUST GONNA SKIP OVER DUDE EATING CEREAL WITH A FORK?!
Wow, everything you explained here makes so much sense after reading Procrastination Rewired. The book and this video together gave me the push I needed. My productivity is finally on track and I feel way less anxious about my to-do list. Thank you!
This, so much.
Nice advice – however it ignores that our control is limited by the decisions of others. This faux advice is terrible
for everyone in the comments, it's okay if you don't know what you want to do and feel lost, that is part of creating a meaningful life that you truly love.
