Blue Space Therapy #mentalhealth #mindset #mentalhealthawareness #faithhabits
Hi everyone, Lori McKenzie, Christian mental health therapist here and um I have a quick um easy, inexpensive uh wonderful mental health hack for you and it is the beach. Okay, I just realized it’s not easy for everyone. I’ve taken for granted. I’ve lived on the east coast my entire life, so it’s usually only 15minute drive to the beach, but I I think a pond or a uh lake could work as well. Um I don’t know if you’ve heard the term, it’s it’s more recent years being called blue space therapy. So being near a body of water um has many mental health benefits. Obviously, you’re getting sunshine, fresh air. You’re probably taking a walk at least. And um there’s just all the senses are involved. You smell the water, you hear the water. Um you know, I have the same stressors in my life as I did yesterday, but somehow they feel smaller right now. Um I I was taking a walk. My daughter’s out there walking. I’m sitting now, but it’s it’s just the sounds and the smells especially and looking around and even even the sound of the seagulls. It’s just um you know, you just see how big God is and how small we are and how small our problems are. And um you know, you think about the sea and the oceans in the Bible a lot. Sometimes it represents um negative things like uh like um darkness and chaos and and but a lot of times it’s it’s a lovely thing. So um I just uh I suggest you do it. Get get yourself some blue space therapy. Okay, I’m going to get back to relaxing. Bye-bye for now.
