Finding Hope: Mental health treatment for kids with autism
so I wanted to show you envelopes that they have throughout Rogers and when our daughter was there they actually make these envelopes and put these inspirational messages in the envelope so there’s several take one see what this one says this says have a great day today it’s inspirational it’s uplifting it’s a simple thing in the house but there are moments of encouragement or moments where you read them and it makes you feel good being on the autism spectrum she’s higher functioning and it had not been understood with the autism that there was anxiety for sure there were some obsessions but nobody could pinpoint and say oh that’s what this is until we got to Rogers that just tells me how important that diagnosis with the autism and anxiety or OCD and in our case also depression must be difficult to sift out or to treat or to recognize and we felt at a complete loss until we found that Tampa Rogers and we realized they had this special program for kids with and we thought that’s it this is it the Rogers and Oconomowoc facilitated a conversation with dr. naday so the fact that we could couple autism with anxiety OCD was huge for us I’m sure we’re not alone and we learned that when we went to Rogers and Tampa that we’re not alone and everybody’s on board receptionist to every every aspect everybody that we dealt with this psychologist this the psychiatrist obviously dr. Anna DOE the behavioral therapist it’s a team approach and we were impressed from day one and having sat with the other families many people are misdiagnosed for years and they don’t know and you go there and they spot-on they know exactly what it is and they’re hardworking people and dedicated to what they’re doing and it shows it shows and you see it and the outcome and you think can we do this without them and it’s very scary to leave because you’re it’s yeah it’s wonderful and you have this toolbox now as a parent you have a toolbox your child has a toolbox but you’re in real life now but I think when when the student is ready the teacher will appear and for us the the teacher was Rogers and the student wasn’t only our daughter it was us too and if you’re going there it’s because you probably exhausted everything and you need help and they are there and it was just a wonderful program and I want people to know it exists because it’s valuable [Music]
