Dani’s Place set to open in Toledo, offers mental health rehab for those leaving inpatient care

Lucas County is celebrating a first of its kind mental health rehabilitation center opening soon in Lucas County. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Danny’s place today on Arlington Avenue right across from Boucher High School. The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Lucas County says the new center aims to fill a critical gap in mental health care. It will provide housing and support for up to 90 days to those leaving inpatient psychiatric care. The idea of Danny’s Place was created by Donna and Jeff Heck after their daughter Danielle attempted suicide in 2017 when she was 22, then was released without follow-up care. She then took her own life two years later. The thing that strikes me so much is how many people came together to help how many more people because that’s really what this is all about. It’s the people who who caused this to happen not we’re a tiny little part of it and and then the people are going to be helped by this new center, this new amazing home. The facility’s design is meant to emphasize peace, safety, and healing with natural light and intentional layouts to support recovery. Danny’s Place is set to open in about 3 months.
