Pediatricians urge mental health screening for children starting in infancy

The American Academy of Pediatrics has issued new guidelines calling for doctors to screen children for mental, emotional, and behavioral issues as early as infancy. CBS News medical contributor Dr. Celine Gounder has more.

  1. Ok, she literally starts by saying that this title is totally misleading—they are screening the MOTHERS during postpartum infancy stage, not the kids!! DO BETTER, CBS!!!

  2. The recommendations she gave were great! Spend time with your family. Prepare and eat healthy meals. Go out in your community and volunteer. Join sports. Or even take walks together. Play board or card games. For younger children they can play with play dough, sand, water, paints etc. clean the house together as a family. Read books as a family. Pray together! It doesn’t take much for children’s mental health to improve. They are children!
