Providing Tele-Behavioral Health Services to Students in Rural Maine

The Youth Tele-Behavioral Health Program, part of the Maine Community Connections Initiative, provides students with support from a clinician via telehealth and a community health worker (CHW) in school.

The clinician and CHW are a team providing emotional and behavioral health support and connections to community resources students and families may need. The program is school-based and and available year round.

The mission of the initiative is to improve the health, wellness, and quality of life in small rural towns through service, advocacy, and community involvement.

The goal is to partner and assist towns with fewer than 5,000 residents located over 10 miles from a hospital. Resources will support local community-led initiatives, removing systemic barriers to address the social determinants of health.
