Today’s video is all about psychiatric pharmacology and medications for Nursing Students and NCLEX Review.

Psychiatric medications are used to treat a variety of mental health issues, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and depression.

As a nurse, you’ll need to administer psychiatric drugs to patients in your day-to-day. For real-world nursing and the NCLEX exam, you have to remember each psychiatric pharmacology class and their mechanisms of action.

And we’re making memorization easy for you with plenty of mnemonics and examples in today’s video.

  1. I genuinely had no idea THATS why antidepressants can actually lead to SI. I always thought it maybe made depressive thoughts stronger, not give you the energy to follow it out. Probably not the biggest thing I need to focus on for my test but I thought that was a genuinely interesting fact

  2. Mike i can’t thank you enough for these great videos. I watched a lot of them while taking notes. I will say I learnt a lot. I passed my Nclex i can’t be more grateful 🫶🏾

  3. Psych drugs are ruining my life. Watch the documentary "Medicating normal". The truth is ugly and I wish more people would open their eyes to the mass problem we are facing.

  6. I'm not a doctor persay but psychostimulant and benzodiazapines are a narcotic in a psych doctors office and psych medicine doesn't get you high that it's supposed to be replaced with pain medicine as real psych medicine which does literally in fact mean I'm not a doctor persay but krokodil combined with psych medicine makes the blood stream rise with aids HIV hep c and cancer that it will never make it as a drug because people think telepathy is real which means it kills you I'm not a doctor persay but forcing someone to do something dangerous is literally getting federal penetentry charges pressed on it no matter what anybody says it's a permafried drug

  7. This is Mary siegert from pittsburgh, Pennsylvania..I want to share my story about my stay at Torrance state hospital. I stayed there for roughly 1 year and three months when everyone else only stayed there for two to three months, I didn't have any behavioral problems, some times I didn't want to take a shower, that was it, and i was placed there in October of 2020, I underwent many different kinds of exploitation like being put on psychiatric medicines and being sexually assaulted in my room on the same night by a gang of around 15 workers from torrance, they threw me on the bed, casey one of the suprrvisers there put their hand down my pants then a couple of them pulled them off, they kept saying they were going to hurt me really badly if i didnt take their drugs. When I gave into their agenda they stopped molesting me, they got off of me and forced me to take their dope (that was after two nights of staying there) prior to the medication and sexual violence I was very assertive and could think very well. But after they got me started on their medication I noticed an overall decrease in energy and mental acuity, my desire to stick up for myself dropped down a lot, and my I just felt raped on all levels. I felt suicidal really and never told anyone of it in fear that they would put me in the observation room. The observation room was where several workers from torrance would go to monitor you and make sure you didn't cause any behavioral issues. I was in addition to this also falsely diagnosed with scitzophrenia by Dr Lang after he performed a series of 5 questions on me. It was a big step up from the three questions that were asked to me at Allegheny County jail by JRS, who gave me a FAlSE mental illness diagnosis in which wS generalized anxiety disorder. I tried to address that at Torrance that I wasn't mentally ill and didn't need to be drugged, how I was falsely diagnosed as having generalized anxiety disorder and how their was no way I had scitzophrenia, but they persisted with me and insisted that they knew what was going on, that I had scitzophrenia.

Torrance state hospital workers use to spy on me while I was in the living room, they would jot down notes and take pictures of me on their phones. They liked to feed me poisonous medicine and food and water. The medicine was coaxed with meth, heroine, and coke. The food had pesticides and other chemicals added to it, they liked to feed us a lot of carbohydrates and they liked to feed us different kinds of food that was high in processed fats. It was very very unhealthy and I was very fortunate that i didn't develop diabetes or some other degenerative illness from it. I had people from the military flashing their tasors at the window at night, it really disturbed me, I was woken up by them, and they raped me vaginally and orally several times per week when I had a single room. They didn't stop until I was in a room with other people. That happened 6 months later. I was raped, drugged, poisoned, and just violated during my stay at Torrance state hospital. I was studious and very very bright and exceptionally artistic before I went to torrance state hospital, but they sold me out to the sex and drug trafficking agencies in town, they worked with Santa barbara, San luis obispuo, and LA to traffic me while I was in custody and at Torrance, later at new journey home, and Balph my current house. They took me from the center and sent me to new journey home after one year and three months of pure hell

  9. They should make you sign something that says you know that all psych meds are experimental

Seeing as how none of you feel the need to back up your work with scientific proof from testing the brain chemistry itself

And then it’s your precious views of the world that lead you to believe you can manipulate people using chemicals and not concern yourselves if your perspectives are slanted

  10. I followed you for my NCLEX ….I had to retake it due to stopping my license for awhile….I was told by the licensing board..that they were having a lot of fails from older nurses…..studied your videos feverently…..and while taking the NCLEX it cut me off…I was devastated thinking I failed…within hours my licensing board called & emailed. me with terribly could news…..my score was HIGH….they wouldn't say how HIGH but it was enough for me to get my license back within hours ….WV area.💕👍🌹🌺🌻🦋
