Following the success of the three-day Male Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse training and healing event led by internationally recognized psychotherapist and author Mike Lew, M.Ed., the Mental Health Association in Tompkins County (MHATC) is offering a three-session Male Survivor Support Group.
Designed as a continuation of the hope and healing fostered during last week’s event, the group provides a safe, confidential, and supportive environment for adult, non-offending male survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Participants will have the opportunity to share experiences, practice self-care tools, and strengthen their sense of community among others who truly understand their journeys.
“The Mike Lew workshop was an incredibly powerful event that underscored the importance of community-based, peer-supported recovery spaces for men affected by childhood sexual abuse,” said Josephine Gibson, CEO of the Mental Health Association in Tompkins County. “This group is our way of responding to that need and keeping the momentum going.”
The group is free of charge and facilitated by peers who are survivors themselves and experienced in supporting others through trauma-informed approaches.
