KINGSLEY — Kingsley Area Schools is taking the next step in bringing a mental health program to it students.
During a board of education meeting Monday night, the board approved a proposed agreement with Grand Traverse County Health Department for the Expanding, Enhancing, Emotional Health Project
The focus on mental health began in 2014 with the K-Town Youth Health Center
However, in recent years students have been unable to visit the center during school hours to receive the help they want.
Kingsley Area Schools Superintendent Joshua Rothwell says that Mike Leahy from the health department spoke to Rothwell about brining the E3 project out of the clinic and into the middle and high school.
The next steps will be bringing the health department back to Kingsley and come up with a proposal of the exact project.
This will include the health department providing licensed mental health professionals, as well as an exact location inside the school for students to go.
