SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. — The True North Behavioral Health Campus is receiving letters of support from various leaders in Shasta County.
In late October, the Shasta County Board of Supervisors rejected a state grant for the campus. However, despite the rejection, the project is still planned to move forward. Arch Collaborative and Signature Healthcare Services announced on Wednesday that Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) Director Christy Coleman has submitted a formal letter of support for the campus.
“I am confident the True North Behavioral Health Campus is in the best interest of Shasta County. HHSA looks forward to continued collaboration with Signature Healthcare, SHARC and Arch Collaborative to expand access to critically needed behavioral health services for our community,” said Coleman.
The nonprofit added that Supervisor Chris Kelstrom has also confirmed he will be submitting the same letter.
“When this previously came before the board, I felt I needed to stand with staff while things were still unclear. Now that there’s a solid path forward, I’m glad to support this project and submit my Letter of Support,” said Kelstrom.
According to Arch Collaborative, the support of Coleman and Kelstrom is only part of the more than 50 letters of support submitted by organizations, agencies and community leaders throughout the Northstate. This includes Shasta County Supervisors Plummer and Long.
CEO of Arch Collaborative Kimberly Johnson expressed gratitude for the support saying,
“The True North Behavioral Health Campus reflects a regional, community-driven effort shaped through hundreds of voices across the North State. We are grateful for the partnership shown in recent weeks and remain committed to transparent, collaborative work that strengthens the behavioral health system for our region.”
Arch Collaborative said between now and the spring 2026 award announcement they will continue working closely with HHSA to ensure project readiness, financial safeguards and a coordinated, community-centered implementation plan, should the project be funded.
Letters of support may be submitted through Friday, November 28. Arch Collaborative added there will be a town hall on the True North Behavioral Health Campus Project. It’s set for December 8 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Dignity Health Connected Living on 200 Mercy Oaks Dr. in Redding. It will be hosted and facilitated by Supervisor Matt Plummer.
