along with anybody looking to sell your facilities let us know we’ll definitely be in touch and we’d be interested to talk to you and with that being said let’s go ahead and jump into the topic of this video so a lot of you responded back to the video i made about behavioral health versus residential assisted living and a lot of you were interested in the fact of like what is required in the sense of staffing so i’m gonna go ahead and i’m gonna do a screen share of the actual arizona administration administrative code and we’re gonna go ahead and jump straight into that let’s go ahead and here we are i’m gonna start talking about this is actually article seven of the arizona department health services here on their website so let’s go ahead and actually look into this so first things first an administrator shall ensure a personnel member an employee or a student is at least 18 years old so people can start working when they are younger but a volunteer if a facility decides to bring on any type of volunteer they would need to be 21 years old now with that being said there’s a lot of things that they need to make sure that this personnel the staff member actually has and this is similar to how assisted livings are structured as well but each uh the qualifications and skills and knowledge are required for each type of personnel member uh first things first is the type of behav behavioral health services or physical health services expected to be provided by the personnel member according to the established job description so they need to kind of figure out what that person’s role is going to be in the business this could include the specific skills and knowledge necessary for personal members to provide the expected behavioral health services or physical health services listed in the job description and it’s just a lot more of the repeated stuff here but at the end of the day if you’re looking to start make sure you read through all of this and you have a good understanding each state will have their own um article articles that they will need to read through as far as regulations go so personnel members skills and knowledge are verified and documented so make sure you document all that and verify it and then right here an administrator shall comply with the requirements for the health technicians which are bhts is what they’re called and then behavioral health professionals which are actually if you can see here an administrator shall ensure that an individual who is licensed under article rs title 32 chapter 33 this would be the behavioral health professional paraprofessional they would need to have they need to be a social worker master social worker uh associate marriage and family therapist they need to have some type of license right in order to be able to be a behavioral health paraprofessional an administrator shall ensure that a plan to provide orientation for the the personnel and the staff but what a lot of people really want to know is what does the personnel member need to have right what does a bht need to really have so they would need to have fingerprint clearance not only do they need fingerprint clearance but they also need to make sure that each member has successfully completed treatment for resistivism that’s a weird word as shown below document documentation of completion of treatment um so on and so forth no arrests or convictions um and if applicable continued participation in self-help groups such as alcoholics anonymous or narcotics anonymous or super support group to the personnel members behavioral health issue and so as you go through here they kind of address more of this of why maybe they is not likely to be a threat to the health or safety of the staff or residents this is in regards to the personnel then right here kind of goes a little further into it an administrator shall ensure that the following personnel members have first aid in cpr training specific to the population served by behavioral health residential facilities at least one personnel member who is present at the behavioral health facility during hours of operation of the behavioral health facility and each personnel participating in an outing so regardless though every bht will need to have their first aid fingerprint clearance and their cpr which is very common uh you also need that here in the state of arizona at least one personnel is present and awake at behavioral health facility facility when a resident is on the premises and then in addition to the personnel member in the subsection there’s a daily staffing schedule that at the very top here goes back up the date of orientation the subject of what was covered in the orientation a written plan so on and so forth an administrator shall ensure that a personnel member or an employee volunteer of a student who has or is expected to have more than eight hours of direct interaction per week with residents provides evidence of t infectious turbo tuberculosis which is also tb which is common as well even in assisted living each caregiver is required to have uh evidence of freedom of infectious tuberculosis so they they can’t have any tb um let’s see here an administrator shall ensure that a personnel record is maintained for each personnel member employee or volunteer this is pretty pretty typical here so as we kind of go through here the individual starting date of employment or volunteer as you can see here individuals qualifications including skills and knowledge applicable to the individual’s job duties the individual’s education and experience applicable to the individual’s jobs the individual’s license or certification if the individual is required to be licensed or certified in this article or policies and procedures so on and so forth if the individual is a behavioral health technician clinical oversight is required so that is very important again cpr training and then also first aid training evidence of tb um and then an administrator shall ensure that a personal records are maintained throughout an individual’s period of providing services at or for that behavioral health residential facility and for at least 24 months after the last date the individual provided services so as you guys can see it’s very similar in regards to what they need they just need some different training in regards to the clientele that they’re going to be working with so at the end of the day there’s not much of a difference when it comes to a behavioral health technician versus an assistant living caregiver they just have different training and there are a lot of people who actually utilize both they actually go get training for behavioral health and they actually go and get training for like alzheimer’s dementia etc so at the end of the day you can hire staff to do both you are able to utilize staff that is trained in both right and that’s kind of what you want if you decide to run a behavioral health facility and an assisted living facility and so the only big difference really is the behavioral health paraprofessional and that is more somebody who like i said up here has the licensure in place of like a social worker somebody in regards to that uh who actually had to go get a degree to be able to provide those kind of services with that being said hopefully that helped you guys kind of get some more insight of as far as what a behavioral health actually requires and if you guys have more additional questions i will continue to make more videos and cover more of this and i hope that this provided some value i can put this article down below and you guys can read it for yourselves if you guys are looking to get into this industry and with that being said thank you so much make sure to like comment and subscribe i do appreciate all the support and love and with that being said i will talk to you all in the next one god bless

Thank you very much.
In an assisted living house what are the requirements for caregivers? Thanks
How do you get people with addictions to pay for behavioral health?
Do I have to hire a BHP to come into the home? Or can the residents see the counselor through their insurance if covered by mercy care? Can I just hire BHT? Or I need both a BHP and BHT in the BHRF?
Thanks
