Ward 19, Priestley unit, Kirklees adult and older people’s mental health services
[Music] what 19 is an inpatient psychiatric ward for patients over the age of 65. we look after patients that have dementia type illnesses approximately about a year ago it was noticed that there was an increase in Falls so we initially put wall lights but at the side of the service users beds that come on during the night if they get out of bed we notice that the older generation were sitting on the edge of the bed looking for the slippers and falling so that’s reduced that risk we put illuminated sticking tape onto walking aids that they could see them and grab them as they was getting out of bed and this has really greatly helped Falls monitored by our physiotherapy team so when patients come in they’ll have a full assessment it’s really important to look after not only the individual’s mental health but the physical health as well it’s so important to us that we give the excellent care that we do these could be our family members and we treat them how we would expect our own family members we’ve worked tirelessly to improve the standards of Care on here we want the best for them I just love my service users [Music]
