  1. I was only six or seven years old when I was put here. That was many years ago, and I would understand if it's changed since I was there. I only remember having to sit in a chair all day in a unit. I remember rarely being let outside, I remember the entire unit going crazy because of so much pent up energy. I remember being forced to the ground and getting shots in my butt to calm me down and it being sore for the next several days and having to sit on it. I do remember a few fun times. But it was more traumatizing for me than helpful. I was here twice for several months, I learned how to curse, how to be violent. I was bullied for several months and the staff didn't believe me until I was called a name and a lady heard. I acted well to get out of there because I hated it, not because it helped me. I went to several more places after, and those were the places that helped. I am now fifteen and a freshman in high school. I still have my issues, but I still carry traumatic experiences from heartland as well. Hopefully it's gotten better since then 💜

  2. These services were never provided to the patient. They were flaunted to parents but they were never allowed access to any of them. They kept them locked up in their rooms. This place is horrible and is a prison not a hospital. Talk to any patient and you will hear the same story.
