Psychiatric care in shambles | Carte Blanche | M-Net

In the Northern Cape, government built what should’ve been a functional, modern, state-run mental healthcare facility. It was the long-awaited fulfilment of a promise to those in need of mental healthcare services in a province desperate for psychiatric facilities. But five years after it was finally opened, whistleblowers have come forward describing a facility that’s in urgent need of attention. And for once, a lack of funds isn’t the problem. Documents and images obtained by Carte Blanche show how the mismanagement of funds by the Northern Cape Department of Health and the hospital are eating away at the budget meant for vulnerable patients.

  2. What has the Northern Cape mental health board has to say? Do they not do audits? ANC has no shame!!! Life esidimeni 2.0 loading

  3. What institution in this country isn't corrupt? There is enough money, but too many greedy and useless people managing, when they have no business or interlect to do so.

  4. Clearly this is all to blame on apartheid, 30 odd years of corruption has nothing to do with it, the ANC are clearly the saving grace of South Africa….

  5. Voters need to accept accountability for their votes/support of the ANC. 2 choices, keep voting for this level of incompetence or vote for CHANGE in 2024.

  6. I can see both sides of the story. I think it would be difficult to carry on a hospitals duties after attacks on a sub station supplying electricity. That would lower morale for me if I were working there. People have to realize that when you are in a desperate situation you will probably make mistakes. In other words if you put a sheep in a cage with a very hungry wolf, don't be surprised if the sheep gets eaten. But I also see the side of the people funding the hospital. They're wary of paying for services and material not being rendered. Well it's going to take a lot more than what they're offering to fix a broken system. I think they need to be in it for the long haul and focus on incremental gains, not monumental losses if they want to be successful. You sometimes hear people supporting a cause say, "if I can just help one person then it's worth it." That is the kind of attitude that is needed to not slip into no progress at all. Just my honest opinion on the matter.❤🎉

  7. I Love my Premier, Dr Saul. He is honest and tries his best in Northern Cape! I would love to see him become President. He even rides a second hand vehicle! That shows how eager he is to get corruption ect wiped out!!

  8. Kimberley general hospital's so called emergency doctors are USELESS, MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. THEY TELL YOU IN YOUR FACE ,YOU COME WASTING THEIR TIME.WHY ARE THEY THERE? THEY HAVE NO FEELING FOR THE POOREST OF POOR.I HATE IT WHEN I SEE MY TAX MONEY GOING DOWN THE DRAIN LIKE THAT. THEN SARS IS QUICK TO TELL YOU ,YOU OWE AND EVEN HAVE THE AUDACITY TO DEDUCT WHAT PEOPLE OWE DEDUCT FROM THEIR SALARIES. THIS GOVERNMENT IS HEARTLESS AND GREEDY.

  9. At the psychiatric hospital, the patients was all sent out into the yard and the securities and staff was inside,I'VE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES.

  10. Its sad to say… but you get the government you vote for. If you vote for the ANC after everything that has happened then don't be surprised when these things happen.

  11. Comrades have an insatiable appetite, they never get enough and mostly don't learn from their past mistakes solely because there is little to no retribution for their thievery,I can just imagine the difficulties staff and patients have to go through on a daily basis.

  12. Absolutely shocking, ANC government workers and tendertrepeneurs targeting the health sector of its own people. Robbing the vulnerable.
Shame on you, Satan is waiting for your greedy souls.

  13. Carte blanche, I love you!…

How's that guy… 'we are in the process of getting to the bottom of the allegations…' blah blah blah What a blanket statement to make.
And a CEO who 'can't do anything' Shame, it must be horrible to be so impotent.

  14. these videos should be accessible to everyone, nabo bangena mali for data – 64k views is nothing – only the few that can afford see these and imajority ye South Africans will make the same mistakes again come 29 May – Kodwa ke thumbs up to Carte Blanche

  15. Funny thing Anc is going to win the elections watch the space people still love it and pretend as if they don't in public many families and individuals have benefited from its corruption

  16. They have themselves to blame because they keep on voting the same ANC who that is corrupt. I pity the patients, they suffer because of the voters in NC
