The Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of Liquor Control (DOLC) said using resources that help encourage mindful alccohol consumption can offer lasting, healthy habits.

“Dry January is more than a trend, this is an opportunity for Ohioans to reset and reflect on their relationship with alcohol,” said DOLC Superintendent Jackie DeGenova. “We want to help individuals keep that progress going even after the calendar flips to February and beyond. Through our partnerships with the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health and other organizations, we provide tools and education that make responsible choices easier. Small steps today can lead to big health benefits tomorrow.”

Ohio Liquor (OHLQ) offers resources for setting personal goals, the effect alcohol has on physical and mental health and creating supporting environments for change. The tools are available 24/7 and can be found by clicking here.

“Any opportunity to take assessment is an opportunity for self-growth,” said Ohio Department of Behavioral Health Director Tia Marcel Moretti. “Behavioral health resources are available year-round to support Ohioans with stress, substance use, and overall mental wellness—whether someone is taking a short break, cutting back, or seeking longer-term support.”

The department offers self-screening tools and other resources online. For those experiencing a mental health or addition crisis, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline can be called, texted or accessed via chat
