BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A 61-year-old Zachary woman accused of threatening Mayor David McDavid has been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.

That decision was made by a judge Thursday afternoon during Patty Haley’s bond hearing.

Prosecutors said in court Haley has mental health dangers. The judge ruled to hold Haley without bond until a mental health evaluation and competency determination.

In a court appearance earlier this week, lawyers noted Haley served three years in federal prison for threatening a judge in Arizona.

Haley was arrested last weekend in Biloxi, Mississippi to face active warrants issued by the Zachary Police Department.

The charges stem two separate reports of threats being made by Haley. According to police documents, the first threat was reported on May 20, 2024. The second was from a September 12, 2024 incident when the Zachary Police Department’s detective division was notified that Mayor David McDavid was receiving life threats via a phone call.

Haley faces 2 counts each of improper telephone communications and harassment, and threatening a public official.

Haley is being held in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. She is due back in court on February 24.
