CLAREMORE, Okla. — Rogers State University’s (RSU) Master of Science in community counseling (MSCC) program will have an open house for prospective students on Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The open house will be held in Baird Hall in Room 202 on the Claremore campus. The event is free and open to all students who may be interested in learning more about RSU’s MSCC program.

“We are excited to invite students to campus who seek a graduate degree centered upon trauma-informed practices,” said MSCC Program Director Dr. Michelle Taylor. “In today’s mental health environment, job opportunities are diverse, and with a prevalence of trauma, systemic inequities and illness, a trauma-informed counseling program is essential.

The Master of Science in community counseling program provides students with the proper tools to become professional counselors. Students who complete the program are better equipped to take the National Counselor Exam (NCE) and the Oklahoma Legal and Ethical Responsibilities Exam (OLERE), which is required by the Oklahoma State Board of Behavioral Health.

“Students who complete a Master of Science in community counseling are eligible to test for the national counseling exam to obtain an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor),” she said. “We are training future therapists who respond with compassion ensuring care is ethical, inclusive and effective.”
