CA Lawmakers Take On ICE

California lawmakers are introducing new legislation aimed at curbing the conduct and authority of ICE agents such as by creating pathways for lawsuits over alleged civil rights violations, or banning immigration officers from using state property as staging grounds. The new bills come amid escalating tensions across the country following two deadly shootings in Minnesota by federal agents. But it’s not as simple as “good” or “bad.” There are some positive trade offs.
