Utah-born writer and director Rickey Jewkes is stepping into the spotlight with his first feature film, “Last Seven Days,” a project filmed entirely in Utah and rooted in an important mission.
The independent film explores themes of mental health, connection, and hope, aiming to spark meaningful conversation among audiences.
Jewkes says the concept for the film grew from a desire to tell an honest, human story that reflects struggles many people face in silence. By filming locally, he was able to showcase Utah talent and landscapes while building a production that feels authentic and close to home.
He spoke to Fresh Living’s David Osmond about the film and what we can do to support it.
More than just a movie, “Last Seven Days” is meant to be a catalyst—encouraging viewers to talk openly about mental health and to recognize they are not alone. The team is now working to bring the film to theaters and is inviting community support to help make that happen.
Independent film “Last Seven Days” seeks to spark conversation on mental health—and with local backing, it could soon reach audiences far beyond Utah.
