Rapid policy changes affecting trans and nonbinary people are reshaping access to safety, health care, and mental health support across the United States. This deeply affects not only trans and nonbinary people, but the broader LGBTQIA+ community, as well.
Hyeouk “Chris” Hahm, professor and associate dean for research at BU School of Social Work (BUSSW), will join other BU faculty for “Meeting This Moment: Mental Health in a Time of Anti-Trans Legislation,” a LGBTQIA+ Scholar Series event. The panel will focus on changes in public policy, health care delivery, and access to care in the current moment for trans, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming people and the impact to mental health.
The discussion will provide research-informed insight into how institutions, providers, and communities can better support trans and nonbinary well-being in a rapidly changing policy landscape.
The Scholar Series, a signature program of the LGBTQIA+ Center for Faculty & Staff, is a monthly, facilitated virtual space where BU scholars showcase their recent LGBTQIA+ scholarly research.
Sponsored by the LGBTQIA+ Center for Faculty & Staff, BUSSW, BU College of Arts & Sciences, and BU School of Public Health, this event is open to all BU faculty, staff, and students.
