OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEVV) — RiverValley Behavioral Health is inviting young artists from a seven-county region in Kentucky to participate in its annual Youth Mental Health Art Contest.

The contest, themed “Be Kind to Your Mind,” encourages students from kindergarten through college to express messages of hope and mental health awareness through art. Participants have the chance to win a $500 scholarship in various divisions, with matching donations going to a school or nonprofit of their choice.

Since its inception in May 2021, the contest has received more than 1,500 submissions and awarded over $30,000 in scholarships and donations. The event was established during the pandemic to promote mental health awareness among youth.

The school or organization with the most entries will be named “Mental Health Partner of the Year” and receive a $1,000 award. Finalists will be announced in May during Mental Health Awareness Month, with an awards ceremony in June.
