TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Mental Health Council of the Big Bend is inviting the community to its third annual Men’s Mental Health event, aimed at creating a space where men can speak openly and honestly about their mental health.
Nicole Everet, with the council, and Antonio Wyche, a licensed clinical social worker, visited WCTV studios to discuss the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and encouraging conversations that can save lives.
The event, titled “Maintaining MoMENtum!,” will be held from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at the Challenger Learning Center, 200 S. Duval St.
Organizers say the afternoon will include food, an open discussion about mental health and an evidence-based Question, Persuade and Refer suicide-prevention training, also known as QPR. The training is designed to help participants recognize the warning signs of suicide and learn how to intervene.
The event is open to men of all ages. A supervised children’s room will be available for attendees with kids.
