Tommie Owens is a meteorologist for Spectrum News 1 Texas. He joined the team in September 2025.
A native of Prattville, Alabama, Tommie has always had a deep love for weather. He graduated from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Meteorology with a minor in Mathematics.
His passion for weather and storytelling took root at WREX in Rockford, Illinois, where he was able to hone in on his weather knowledge, forecasting and covering for snowstorms and severe weather. After his time in Illinois, he decided to move back to the South to Albany, GA.
While at WALB News 10 in Albany, he acted as the weekend meteorologist, where he could forecast all types of weather. From hurricanes to snow and ice, Tommie has covered it all. His ability to communicate the science to viewers resonated so much that he helped grow his station’s presence on all social media platforms.
In his free time Tommie likes to craft, read, and explore all the wonders of Texas, from the Hill Country to the Gulf Coast, and explore the diverse food scenes the state has to offer.
