ST. CLOUD — An attorney for Dylan Tobler, the 23-year-old St. Cloud man accused of killing his wife earlier this month, has asked for and been granted a request that his client undergo a mental health evaluation before any further developments with the charge against him for second-degree murder.
Tobler’s attorney, Matt Lindeman, requested the evaluation during a virtual appearance on Monday, Feb. 23, in Stearns County District Court. Tobler remains in custody at the Stearns County Jail, and a future appearance has yet to be scheduled.
Tobler is accused of stabbing his wife, Hallie Tobler, 22, multiple times. According to court documents, her body was found by her father, Jeff Johnson, on Feb. 7 after he hadn’t heard from her in several days. He and his wife, Julie, went to the Toblers’ apartment in the 3100 block of 40th Avenue South.
Jeff Johnson knocked at the door for about 15 minutes before it was unlocked from the inside, according to court documents. After he found his daughter in a bathroom with dried blood on her wounds, he called the St. Cloud Police and waited outside for officers to arrive. According to a police report, Dylan Tobler was found with self-inflicted knife wounds in an apparent suicide attempt.
A funeral for
was on Friday, Feb. 20, at The Waters Church in Sartell.
